This service (the “App”) is provided by EyeVis GmbH, Kiellinie 82, 24105 Kiel, Germany (“EyeVis,” “we,” “our,” or “us”), as the data controller under applicable data protection laws.
The EyeScan App allows you to perform standardized remote vision tests and securely store your test results in your personal account.
We take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, how it is stored and protected, and what choices you have. You can access this Privacy Policy anytime in the App under “More / Privacy Information.”
1. What Face Data We Collect
The App uses Apple’s TrueDepth camera and ARKit technology only to calculate the distance between your face and the device screen to ensure accurate test results.
- We do not collect, record, or store any facial images, videos, or biometric identifiers.
- The App only receives a numerical distance value calculated by the device, locally and in real time.
- No facial recognition, identification, or mapping of unique facial characteristics is performed by us.
2. Purpose and Use of Face Data
Face data is used solely for distance measurement during the vision test to ensure the user maintains the correct position relative to the device screen. This helps deliver accurate and medically valid results.
No other uses are performed, and the data is not analyzed, shared, or used for tracking, profiling, or marketing purposes.
3. Storage and Sharing of Face Data
- Local Processing Only: The distance calculation happens entirely on your device.
- No Transmission: No face data leaves your device or is transmitted to EyeVis or third parties.
- No Third-Party Access: We do not share any face data with external entities, partners, or service providers.
4. Retention of Face Data
No face data is stored or retained. Once the distance calculation is completed, the data is immediately discarded and cannot be recovered.

- Section 4.1 – Camera and Distance Measurement “To ensure accurate test results, the App uses the device’s TrueDepth camera or ARKit to measure the distance between you and the screen.
